What is the Scholars programme?

UCL Scholars is a free online literacy skills programme for Year 9 students from across the country, delivered in partnership with University College London.

The programme combines live online events and online mentoring with current UCL students.

Why take part in Scholars?

Taking part in the programme will help you get ready to prepare for university and improve your literacy skills and confidence along the way.

  • Boost your knowledge of university, and the steps to take in order to get there.
  • Gain the opportunity to interact with a current UCL student through online mentoring.
  • Be part of a celebration showcase to be held in the summer.

Who can take part?

In order to be eligible for a place on Scholars, you must be:

  • Currently in Year 9.
  • Attending an UK state school.
  • Currently achieving a Grade 5 or above in the majority of your subjects, including English and Maths.

How to apply

If you meet all of the entry requirements and would like to apply for a place on the Scholars programme, please follow the instructions on the UCL website.

Applications will close at 10am on Monday 18th January 2021.
