The RSL Literature Matters workshops bring together a Royal Society of Literature Fellow with a famous friend to take part in a series of free write-along workshops.
In this video, best-selling author Neil Gaiman is joined by actress Yetide Badaki to play along with a writing game called The Exquisite Corpse.
This was an old parlour game where players would take it in turns to piece together the 'corpse' by drawing body parts or writing sentences. The game started with the first sentence: 'the exquisite corpse will drink the new wine'.
In this workshop, Neil and Yetide take it in turns to write sentences but tell each other only the last word, before reading out the whole story at the end.
What you need to play:
- A piece of paper.
- A pen.
- A partner!
