Watch the video - part one

In this video Matt talks about how he became a poet and invites you to speak your truth in a poem of your own.

Try Matt's tell your truth activity

Think of a moment in your life when you were feeling strong emotions: happiness, sadness, anger or embarrassment, for example. Try to replay the whole scene in your head and then 'talk with your pen' and write out exactly what happened.

What were you doing, thinking and saying? What were people around you doing/saying? Jot down your ideas - writing in the present tense can help - then put it away and come back to it the next day.

Make sure it tells your truth, in your words.

Watch the video - part two

In this second video, Matt talks more about how easy it is to write about life - because your life matters.
